Yes, my kitchen is a mess, but my freezer is full. Since about a month before I gave birth, I have gotten into making freezer meals that I put in Ziploc bags and shove in the freezer to take out later and stick in a crockpot or oven. It’s super easy, fast, and I feel like it saves us so much money. Not to mention it’s good on proportioning out our meals properly, and saving us from the all too well known symptom of eating out or popping in a frozen pizza to the oven. Now that I have been making these for the last few months, I like that I can come home and dinner is already made, and the house smells amazing. I go grocery shopping once a month and these meals can usually get us through the entire month for dinners. (We do have at least 2 potlucks a week though, so that helps too 🙂 ) The only thing to manage now is not forgetting to take out a bag to thaw in the fridge the night before, and figuring out how to prep during Azy’s nap time, and hoping she doesn’t wake up when I have chicken all over my hands. She did very well and slept through all my kitchen escapades today 🙂
Side note, It only took me 5 minutes to clean it all up, but that’s because I have this bad boy…
Mom, I don’t know how we did life without one of these when I was little.
Below are some links to the particular meals I have in the freezer right now. If you are interested that is. Also, if you noticed the small bags on the top left of my freezer and shoved in the door, these are frozen smoothie mixes. Strawberries were on sale for 89 cents a carton this week (So I bought 5!!) The directions are in this link http://laceyinloveblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/diy-smoothie-packs.html .
This grocery run only cost me $200 and that’s with all the extra things like lunch, breakfast, snacks, and important things like toilet paper. (And it included the extra chicken I bought because that was on sale too 🙂 )
***Disclaimer, I did not write these recipes, but I don’t know who to credit, so I’m crediting them to the Pinterest People 🙂 That’s where I found them all.
